How do I know whether CAED Therapy is right for me?

If you're struggling with your relationship with food, your body, past experiences, anxiety, or the weight of carrying hard things — and you're looking for care that's thoughtful and trauma-informed — we may be a good fit. A free consultation is the easiest way to find out, with no pressure to commit.

What happens after I reach out?

We'll respond within a couple of business days to schedule a free consultation — a brief, no-pressure conversation about what's bringing you in and what you're hoping for. If we feel like the right fit, we'll find a time to begin. If not, we'll help point you toward someone who is.

What should I expect during the first session?

The first session is about getting to know you — what's been hard, what you're hoping for, and what care has or hasn't felt helpful before. You're welcome to share as much or as little as you're ready to. There's no pressure to have it all figured out or to dive into the hardest things right away.

What concerns do you treat?

We work with eating disorders and disordered eating, body image, trauma, anxiety and OCD, ADHD and emotional regulation, and the family and relationship dynamics that often travel alongside them. We also support people navigating high-functioning burnout and major life transitions.

Do I need an eating-disorder or trauma diagnosis to begin therapy?

No. You don't need a diagnosis, a label, or a crisis to reach out. If something is affecting your wellbeing, your relationships, or your relationship with food and your body, it's worth talking about.

Do you work with children, teens, and adults?

Yes. We work with children, teens, and adults, and we tailor our approach to each age and stage. For younger clients, family involvement is often an important part of care.

Where are sessions available?

We have offices in Pasadena and Encino for in-person sessions, and we offer online therapy throughout California. You're welcome to choose what feels most comfortable and practical for you.

Do you offer online therapy?

Yes. We provide secure telehealth across California, so you can attend from anywhere in the state. Online sessions follow the same approach and structure as in-person care.

How often will we meet?

Most clients meet weekly, especially at the start, when momentum and trust are building. Over time, we'll adjust the frequency together based on how you're doing and what you need.

Can parents, partners, or other family members participate?

Yes. Family involvement is often part of care for teens and, when it feels right, for adults too. We also offer dedicated Family Coaching for parents and loved ones who want to better understand and support someone they care about.

What are your fees?

Fees vary based on the service and session length. We'll review current rates during your free consultation and make sure you have clear information before deciding whether to move forward.

Do you accept insurance?

We are private-pay only and don't bill insurance directly. If you'd like, we provide a superbill you can submit to your insurance for potential out-of-network reimbursement — and we're glad to walk you through what that process looks like.

Do you provide superbills?

Accepted Answer

Yes. A superbill is a detailed receipt that includes the information your insurance company needs to process an out-of-network claim — diagnosis and service codes, session dates, and provider details. We provide one each month, and you submit it directly to your insurer for potential partial reimbursement. We can't guarantee reimbursement or its amount, but we'll help you understand the process and what to ask your insurer before you begin.

What is your cancellation policy?

We ask for at least 48 hours' notice to reschedule or cancel a session. Sessions canceled with less notice are charged the full session fee, with some flexibility for illness and emergencies.

What if I need a higher level of care?

Accepted Answer

Sometimes the most caring thing we can do is connect you to a higher level of support — such as an intensive outpatient (IOP) or partial hospitalization (PHP) program. If that's needed, we'll help you find the right fit and, whenever possible, coordinate with that team and support your return to outpatient care.

What if I'm concerned about someone I love?

It's hard to watch someone you care about struggle, and you don't have to figure it out alone. Family Coaching can help you understand what's happening, communicate more effectively, and respond in ways that genuinely support their recovery — whether or not they're ready for treatment themselves.
